I’m not sure if this wonderful building, which has been a setting for many bad things and has now been closed, will be demolished along with the mid-20th century additions. That marvelous pyramid roof and the stone building must be kept, if only to remind us of its sordid story. Surely an imaginative museum of the past could be created within those old walls. I took the ferry to Alcatraz and learned a great deal. The Baltimore Jail would provide a strong lesson about how people were once imprisoned. Tear down the later additions, but allow the original monument to fear remain.
