Design Collective Promotes Four New Senior Associates and Two New Associates

Baltimore, MD (March 2, 2016) – Design Collective Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of four new Senior Associates and two new Associates.
Those promoted to Senior Associate include:
John Corkill III, AIA, NCARB
With over 35 years of experience, John is a highly effective project architect that is skilled in all facets of the building process and has been involved in a diverse range of education and institutional projects. He has served as project architect on notable and award-winning projects such as the historic preservation and adaptive re-use of Inmar’s Corporate Headquarters in Winston-Salem, N.C. which also achieved LEED Platinum Certification. John is currently working on Nine East 33rd, a new mixed-use development for Johns Hopkins University that will deliver 568 beds of student housing and 31,000 SF of ground level retail in 2017. John received a Bachelor’s degree from the Catholic University of America and serves as one of Design Collective’s two firm-wide quality assurance and quality control managers.
Scott Geczi, AIA
Scott is an integral part of the mixed-use/multi-family studio. His expertise in managing high-rise, concrete podium and wood-frame construction projects has made him one of the firm’s in-house experts in concrete construction. Many of Scott’s projects have received local and national recognition for their creativity and contextual sensitivity. With over 15 years of experience, Scott received his Bachelor’s degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Presently, Scott is working on 1213 Walnut, a high-rise residential tower for The Goldenberg Group, Hines and ASB Real Estate Investments in Philadelphia, PA. Upon completion, the 26-story tower will feature 322 residential units, approximately 13,500 SF of amenity space and 7,200 SF of ground floor retail space.
Scott McGovern, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Skilled in architectural detailing and design development, consultant coordination and construction administration, Scott has been an invaluable asset in the execution of several of the firm’s most successful public and private sector projects. He has over 25 years of experience and offers a diverse portfolio of residential, urban mixed-use and commercial facilities, in addition to new and renovated K-12 academic buildings and student housing for higher education institutions. Scott is currently working with American Campus Communities on the student housing component of the Towson Row development. When complete, the 24-story mixed-use high-rise will deliver 906 beds of student housing to the Towson University community. Scott received his Bachelors degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Nick Mansperger, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Nick has designed a wide variety of building types including higher education facilities, mixed-use market rate & student housing, and cultural institutions. A practicing design architect for the last twelve years, Nick has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland College Park, and is on Morgan State University’s Friends of Architecture at Morgan board. Among other projects, Nick is working on the design of Highgate, a mid-rise residential community and mixed-use development for Kettler in Tysons Corner, Va. The development will feature 395 apartment units and 14,000 SF of amenity space upon completion. Nick received his Masters Degree in architecture, with a Certificate in Urban Design, from the University of Maryland College Park.

Buffy Stachorowski
Buffy has more than 13 years of experience with Design Collective. During that time she has served as a Project Architect for several of the firm’s most recent multi-family mixed-use projects including market rate, mixed-income, affordable, student and faculty housing, single family and multi-family developments. Currently, Buffy is working on The Cameron, a five-story mixed-use residential development for Spectrum Properties Residential in Cool Springs, Tenn.
Shannon Fantaski-Ryan, AIA, LEED AP
An architect with over eight years of experience, Shannon received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Master of Architecture degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Shannon is currently working with Johns Hopkins University on the fit-out of their new Technology Ventures and Fast Forward business accelerator space, a dynamic landmark facility and shared work environment that will support the University’s entrepreneurial communities and commercialization of new technologies.
