Baltimore, MD (January 5, 2017) – inPLACE Design – a Baltimore-based architecture, planning, and design firm – has named Curtiss Taylor its Director of Graphics.
With nearly 20 years of experience, Taylor has focused on the environmental graphics and wayfinding for the mixed-used retail and entertainment industries, both for national and international projects. In his new role, he will oversee the design and coordination of multifaceted signage and graphics projects while providing a hands on approach that clients need.
“We are excited to have Curtiss on board – his skill set will allow us to provide an increased set of services to our clients,” said Dustin Watson, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB, CDP, Founder and Principal of inPLACE Design. “I have always been impressed with his natural creative talent as well as his practical, business mindset – a rarity among designers.” Commenting on the importance of environmental graphics, Watson said, “Environmental graphics has become a key component of successful placemaking because it is the aspect that unifies the site, reinforces the placemaking experience, and provides a complete brand experience.”
Previously, Taylor was a senior graphic designer at DDG. During his career, he has worked on a variety of U.S.-based projects including the Rockville Town Square in Rockville, Maryland, Fairfax Corner in Fairfax, Virginia, and Eastgate Crossing in Chapel Hill, North Carolina as well as the Egyptian 24 Theaters in Hanover, Maryland. Some of his international experience includes the Mall of Istanbul in Turkey, Dreamland in Egypt, and Saint John Airport in Canada.
Taylor is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD).
