Columbia, MD (August 1, 2019) –Waldon Studio Architects (WSA) has announced that Helen Lanes has joined the firm as Principal and Director of Interiors. Lanes will lead the firm’s DC office while also overseeing the expansion and growth of WSA’s interiors practice firmwide.
Lanes has over 25 years of design experience, with her primary focus on healthcare design in the Mid-Altantic region. She has worked in the Corporate, Commercial, Educational, and Hospitality sectors, in addition to Healthcare. Lanes has experience working from both the owner’s side and from within the architectural studio. She brings a unique perspective and expertise to integrated healthcare planning and to the design of innovative, high-performance solutions that address the needs of complex user groups.
“2019 continues to be a year of growth for WSA,” said Ravi Waldon, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB, founder and principal at WSA. “Helen’s world-class interior design experience is a tremendous complement to WSA’s team of architects. We’re excited to have her heading up our DC office and leading our interiors practice firmwide as we continue to expand to meet the needs of our clients.”
Most recently, Lanes served as Interior Design Manager for Inova Health System in Virginia where she developed and implemented design guidelines as well as provided design oversight for projects throughout the system. She is a frequent public speaker on design strategies to embrace the patient experience and aging populations. “I’m excited to join this talented and dedicated studio of architects,” says Lanes. “Building on the firm’s collaborative nature and shared passion for designing spaces that enrich lives, I’m eager to lend my healthcare design expertise to help expand WSA’s healthcare practice and grow the interior design portfolio across all sectors.”
In addition to Lanes, WSA has added five new hires in the first half of the year. A nationally recognized studio of passionate architects and creatives, the firm continues to expand its geographic footprint throughout the mid-Atlantic region and across the United States through its various practice areas.
