View The Digital Exhibition: SAY IT LOUD Maryland

Baltimore Architecture Foundation, AIA Baltimore, and Bmore NOMA announce SAY IT LOUD Maryland, an exhibition that will spotlight the contributions of diverse design professionals to the built environment. Created by Beyond the Built Environment, SAY IT LOUD will launch a virtual exhibition in Summer 2021 and a physical exhibition at the Baltimore Center for Architecture and Design in Fall 2021. This will be the first major exhibition at the Baltimore Center for Architecture and Design. The exhibition will be designed by Pascale Sablan, FAIA, founder of Beyond the Built Environment, and recipient of the 2021 AIA Whitney M. Young Jr. Award.

Maryland adds its name to an international list of locations participating in SAY IT LOUD. To date, SAY IT LOUD exhibitions have been viewed by an estimate total 35,000 visitors since January 2017. The concept of SAY IT LOUD is: “To see our faces, hear our voices, feel our impact within the colorful tapestry of our heritage.” SAY IT LOUD is the activation of a national movement of sharing, protecting and celebrating the journey of the underrepresented to inspire the next generation. SAY IT LOUD engages diverse audiences through programming organized at the time of exhibition to elevate the identities and contributions of minority architects and designers with, curated lectures, and documentaries that testify to the provided value of their built work and its spatial impact.

AIA Baltimore and BAF are proud to partner with Bmore NOMA and Beyond the Built to bring SAY IT LOUD to Maryland. BIPOC and women architects, engineers, designers, students and planners who reside in Maryland or have projects in the state are encouraged to submit to be included in the virtual and physical exhibitions.
