[Press Release] Ayers Saint Gross + Populous selected to lead Pimlico and Laurel Park Racing Facilities Redevelopment

Baltimore, MD- The Ayers Saint Gross and Populous team is thrilled to have been selected to work with the Maryland Stadium Authority to redefine the built environment at two of Maryland’s most iconic destinations, the Pimlico and Laurel Park Racing Facilities.  The Pimlico and Laurel Park projects will establish Maryland as a leader in state-of-the-art horse racing and entertainment facilities, while also providing essential integration of the surrounding communities. Our deep Baltimore roots allow us to recognize the potential for the region as a preeminent destination, and we look forward to the opportunity to work with the Maryland Stadium Authority to create a world-class experience for residents and tourists alike.

Ayers Saint Gross, an internationally recognized, employee-owned design firm, has been headquartered in Baltimore since its founding in 1912. Working on various projects with the Maryland Stadium Authority including the Baltimore Convention Center, and at, Johns Hopkins University, the National Aquarium, and other iconic institutions has brought positive change to our beloved city and the state of Maryland. Our long history in the region amplifies our excitement to engage the community throughout this process to deliver an exemplary project that will define the future of horse racing in Maryland, and the futures of Park Heights, Laurel, and their surrounding communities.

Populous brings unmatched equestrian, racing, and sport design experience to our team, and have designed of some of the world’s largest and most prestigious equestrian venues including the Royal Ascot, Hong Kong Jockey Club, and the Brisbane Racing Club. Their long and successful history of working with the MSA dates back to the delivery of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and includes the design of M&T Stadium and its recent major upgrades, as well as the Fair Hill equestrian facilities.

Together, Ayers Saint Gross and Populous have a history of successful collaborations and will work to create a destination connecting residents and visitors to the exciting sport of horse racing.
