inPLACE Design Founder Named Co-Chair of AIABaltimore’s Committee on the Environment

Baltimore, MD (March, 30 2017) – Dustin Watson, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB, CDP, Founder and Principal of inPLACE Design—a Baltimore-based architecture, planning, and design firm—has been appointed as Co-Chair of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Baltimore’s Committee on the Environment (COTE). He serves with fellow Co-Chair Rudy Schaar, AIA.
The Committee on the Environment was formed to promote the benefits of environmentally conscious design and construction within the building professions and the community at large. COTE is involved in a number of projects, some in partnership with community organizations, to promote a healthier, more sustainable environment in the Baltimore region.
With 20-plus years of experience as an architect and designer, Watson is a natural fit to serve in this position.  He is a global expert who is passionate about designing spaces that are both memorable and sustainable. Watson is best known for creating dense, richly detailed, sustainable, mixed-use environments, streetscapes, and neighborhoods with layers of texture, designed to work together to create a true experience and a memorable sense of place.
Watson’s work spans the globe to include projects from the Puri Indah Master Plan in Jakarta, Indonesia to the mixed-use development at Washington, D.C.’s National Harbor.
Additionally, Watson serves on the ULI Sustainable Development Council and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Retail Green Planning Committee.
