September 1, 2021 (Baltimore, MD) – The Baltimore Architecture Foundation announces the 8th Annual Doors Open Baltimore including a mix of in-person and virtual programs exploring Baltimore’s architecture and neighborhoods. Themes include Arts Districts & Main Streets, Olmsted Parks and Landscapes, Celebrating Diverse Designers, and AIA Baltimore’s 150th Anniversary.
Doors Open Baltimore programs are free to the public with an option to make a charitable donation. BAF encourages attendees to donate to support the production of Doors Open Baltimore.

In-Person Tours
In-person tours are returning to Doors Open Baltimore! Throughout October, attendees can expect tours of parks and neighborhoods, and behind-the-scenes tours of beloved Baltimore landmarks.
The majority of in person Doors Open programs will follow our COVID-19 In Person Event Policy.
Space for in person tours is very limited to allow attendees to safely social distance.
A limited number of self-guided tours will be made available through the GeoTourist App.
Virtual Programs
Live virtual presentations and tours are also be available throughout October. These programs will be livestreamed on Zoom and Facebook Live. Recording will be added to the BAF YouTube Channel.
SAY IT LOUD Maryland Exhibition
Doors Open Baltimore 2021 will be the first to include the Baltimore Center for Architecture and Design, located at One Charles Center and BAF’s new home. Visitors can see the SAY IT LOUD Maryland exhibition spotlighting the contributions of Maryland’s diverse designers to the built environment. The exhibition will open on October 1.
Virtual Kick-Off Lecture with Dr. Lawrence Brown
BAF and Baltimore Heritage will kick off Doors Open Baltimore with Dr. Lawrence Brown, author of The Black Butterfly: The Harmful Politics of Race and Space in America. Dr. Brown will put Baltimore under a microscope, looking at the causes of segregation and drawing on extensive research of data and policy. Brown will demonstrate how data visualization can be a tool to distribute resources to communities in need, and speak to the roles of design, planning, and preservation in healing and restoring redlined Black neighborhoods.
Dr. Brown’s presentation will be followed by a discussion and Q&A.
