Join AIA Baltimore’s Historic Resources Committee for a behind-the-scenes tour of Baltimore’s Basilica of the Assumption.
Step into the legacy of America’s First Cathedral in this walking tour of the Basilica of the Assumption, a triumph of renowned Architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe. This tour will review the historical and architectural significance of the Baltimore Basilica and invite those in attendance to areas not always open to the public. From its original construction beginning in 1806, to its most recent award-winning restoration completed in 2006, the Basilica’s construction history and the balance between historic integrity and modern intervention will be reviewed.
