During the COVID-19 pandemic, landscape architects are helping to create vibrant public spaces that benefit our economy and community, beyond recreation, exercise and transportation.  Focusing on novel approaches to public open space, designers are helping to curate meaningful authentic retail, dining and socially distant experiences that are site and community specific to address the challenges of interior spaces to COVID-19 virus transmission. The result should be the innovative design of active retail and restaurant outdoor spaces that will safely promote social interaction and support business owners, employees and consumers.
