Johnston Square is a neighborhood in central Baltimore, located east of the Fallsway and west of the Oliver neighborhood, bordered by Greenmount Cemetery at the north and Eager Street at the south. Join us for a tour to learn more about ReBUILD Metro and the work that they are doing to transform this neighborhood.

Over the last two decades, ReBUILD Metro has strategically invested over $125 million in East Baltimore, remediating over 500 vacant properties and lots into new homes and assets and reducing vacancy by over 90% in its first two reinvestment areas of Oliver/Broadway East and Greenmount West. In 2015, it expanded to Johnston Square, where it is now working with public, private, and community partners on a $200 million plan to transform the area into a thriving and income-diverse neighborhood that provides opportunities and changes the lives of new and legacy residents alike—and that can serve as a blueprint for Baltimore’s regeneration.

This walking tour will focus on ReBUILD Metro’s neighborhood developments which include three blocks of completed rehabbed single-family homes, a multi-family building currently under construction, a library, and multi-block park to start construction in August. This tour is outdoors and will take place rain or shine.
